Bio

Thrall / Howl

Name: Thrall / Howl
Age: 27
Series: Warcraft
Species: Orc (Frostwolf Clan)

Personality

Thrall's temperment is usually calm, collected, and very curious. Unlike most of his kind (orcs) he is more thoughtful and intelligent, more open minded, and more accepting of helping others - even past enemies. Like his kind though, he tends to be stubborn, drives himself forward - pushing his breaking limits, and is always looking towards the future.

There is another side to his personality, a darker side. When angered or driven to a breaking point, he has the ability to become enraged, seeing nothing but a haze of anger that flows through his veins, a trait of his people. While in this state, he lashes out physically. Usually, he is able to concentrate and only attacks the instigator, but there is always the potential that he may end up too lost in the rage, unable to see what is going on around him.

Overall, Thrall is a warrior, a sage, and a leader of his people. He values honor, pride, ancestry, and those that will ally with him as friends and family. He believes in humity, inner strength and will. Yet, he will guard and protect those he cares about, even offering his own life.

Background

Thrall was birthed to Durotan and Draka of the Frostwolf tribe of his people. While other orcs were being possessed by demonic blood of the Burning Legion - a group of demons, who travel from one planet to another, destroying worlds, his tribe stayed away from it, retaining their shamanistic ways, leaving them Exiled in a new world, a world of humans, dwarves, and elves.

While Thrall was still an infant, his parents were assassinated by his own kind, those under the influence of the demonic blood. The assassins left the infant screaming in the woods to die, but the young baby orc was found by a human, a bitter and egotistical man named Adelas Blackmoore. Blackmoore took in the baby orc, named him 'Thrall' (Slave), and took him to an orc internment camp, where he raised the orc.

Thrall was kept in a dark and small cell for his entire life. He was only allowed out to fight in gladiator pit matches. He was not only a slave, but a prized fighter that Blackmoore used for income and prestige that he was able to tame and raise a wild orc as his own. Due to this, thrall had no idea of his history, ancestry, or even how to speak in the orcish tongue. He was raised as a human, spoke human, and was disgusted even at himself for being large and green - not human.

Eventually, when he turned 18, he towered over his opponents and owner. Thrall had also grown surprisingly strong. He drew the attention of a human girl, Taretha (who's family helped raise him as an infant in the camp). She always considered Thrall as a younger brother since hers had died. Yet, Thrall looked at her with enamored eyes since she was the only human that cared for him. The young woman wound sneak down books for Thrall to read in his cell. From this, he learned the art of warfare, maps, studies on sciences, and how to read and write. The young woman also helped with his escape from the camp by setting fire to a hut which grew out of control, and set as a distraction for the orc to escape.

Thrall was alone and in the wilderness. While he had survival skills, he had no idea how to be an orc. He encountered a few stray orcs, most which mocked him for speaking and smelling like a human. But, he was taken in by the Warsong Clan, Grommash Hellscream their leader. Grom told Thrall stories of his people, of the demonic taint, and their old world. He even shared stories of Thrall's parents, having known them personally before their death.

After spending some time with them and learning their ways, Thrall left to venture the wilderness once more. That was when he ran into those of his own tribe, the Frostwolves. They too mocked him, outcasting him that he was nothing more than a shell of his belated father, who was their leader. But one shaman who grew up with Durotan accepted Thrall. There, he taught Thrall the ways of nature and the shamanistic arts - how to call on flame, wind, water, earth, and the spirit for guidance.

Months passed, and everyday Blackmoore was searching for his lost orc. He found out that Taretha helped him escape, and he beheaded her. Thrall was able to unite the orc clans together under one Horde banner and marched to Blackmoore's internment camp to free the other slave orcs he held. Blackmoore tossed Taretha's head at Thrall, and the orc felt something he never knew before - a blind rage. He used his shamanistic abilities to cause the earth to rumble, destroying the walls of the camp, and eventually flame and wind to battle the human guards from surging them. The orcs had taken the camp and eventually, Thrall killed Blackmoore, getting his revenge on the death of the human woman he loved and cared for.

It was at a cost though. The Warchief of the Horde who was in the battle, Ogrim Doomhammer, was attacked and dying. He passed on his legacy and armor to Thrall, declaring him the next Warchief of all the clans. So started the new legacy of the Horde...
